Build your starting eleven one rule at a time. Each round shows a club (“Played for Arsenal”) or a country (“Italy international”); search a player who fits it, and he takes a free slot of his position in a 4-3-3 — one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders, three forwards. Plan ahead: a great forward is no use once your front three is full. Three lives, three skips, and every day’s eleven rules are checked to have at least one complete XI, revealed at the end.
What is Build Your XI?
A daily football starting 11 game: you build a full eleven in a 4-3-3, and every pick must fit that round’s rule — a club the player has played for, or the country he represented.
How do positions work?
Each player takes his main position from Wikidata, shown as GK, DEF, MID or FWD in the search. Wingers and strikers count as forwards. If his line is already full, pick someone else — that slip costs nothing.
Is there always a full XI?
Yes. Before a puzzle is published we search our player data for a complete eleven that satisfies all eleven rules with distinct players and the right positions. That XI is shown at the end as one possible answer.
What costs a life?
Picking a player who does not fit the rule — for example someone who never played for the club shown. You have three lives and three skips; a skipped rule comes back at the end.
Does it matter when he played there?
No. A player counts for a club if he played for it at any point in his career, so a transfer never makes an answer wrong.
When does the puzzle change?
At midnight UTC — one puzzle per game per day, the same for everyone.
Where does the data come from?
Player puzzles use real club careers from Wikidata, the open database behind Wikipedia (public domain, CC0). Every clue is a career fact — a club a player has played for at any point, or the country he represented — so a transfer never makes an answer wrong. List puzzles use settled football history. Every puzzle is checked before it is published.
